It’s that time again! Time to find out where we’re going next.
I vividly remember the day in 2006 we found out we were going to Fort Carson. We were here at Fort Jackson and Matt told me that the person who revealed our next duty station said, “Well, I hope you like to ski!”
We were thrilled!
This is what the boys looked like about that time:
I also remember the day in 2009 we were told we were going to Germany. We had a friend’s little boy over for the weekend and we were getting a tour of the motor pool.
We were thrilled!
The next big reveal in 2012 wasn’t quite a surprise but it was great, because it was what needed to happen as far as Matt’s Chaplain Career goes.
We were thrilled! (You can read about it here.)
Today we were told with about 90% certainty where we are going next. Want a hint?
Need another one? I took this picture of our beloved Cheyenne Mountain (below) the very day we pulled away from Colorado Springs on our way to Germany (by way of Disney World). We are thrilled at the probability of heading back to Fort Carson, Colorado. We were so very happy there, in spite of a very long 15-month deployment.
We are never “sure” that something is going to happen in this Army life, so don’t be surprised if you read a change of plans blog post from me sometime in the next six months. If you don’t, then that just means we were really supposed to get back to the land of much sun and snow!
This was Matt’s first choice, my second. Alaska was at the the top of my list, for the adventure of it and the possibility of overlapping with some pretty special people who are out there already.
But any day we are told we have the chance to head back to Colorado is a good day indeed!
We’ll keep you informed of our future travels! It’s so weird to be finding out where we’re going only a month (exactly) after signing for our current house. Weird indeed!
