Today was our last official day at ChapelNext.  Matt’s no longer on the leadership team there, and we are no longer admins for the CN FB page (for me, that makes this transition real).  We have loved our time here and are grateful for the amazing people who attend chapel with us.  We will still go to CN until we leave, so that made today simply a fun day. We were officially farewelled, but didn’t have to cry or get sad.  We just talked, ate, and talked some more.

I kind of figured Matt would receive some token of appreciation for his time at ChapelNext Wiesbaden.  It’s sort of tradition in the Army and like I said, we’re around amazing people.  I had no idea what they were working on, but it turned out to be a really neat frame with notes from ChapelNexters all around it.  I love that his “token” of appreciation is one with such a personal touch.  (If anyone else wants to sign it, we’d be happy to let you!)  He also received a coin but that gets a little Army-technical so I’d have to get him to explain that to you.

Matt receiving a coin from CH Jeff. (Super secret handshake.)

What surprised me today was that ChapelNext also gave me a gift, and each of the boys as well.  I was given a page from the Gutenberg Press, with II Peter 1:5-7 on it.  It is absolutely perfect and beautiful!  Matt and I were going to try to get one of these before we PCSed and just haven’t found the time to!

In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.  II Peter 1:5-7

And finally, each of the boys was given an award personalized to each one specifically.

They read:

The Raphael Award is presented to Hayden Hamrick for being ChapelNext’s most dedicated youth artist.

The Bookworm Award is presented to Carson Hamrick for being ChapelNext’s fastest above-grade-level reader.

The Witness Award is presented to Bailey Hamrick for being ChapelNext’s most enthusiastic teller of God’s love.

The Kachow-Kapow Award is presented to Parker Hamrick for being ChapelNext’s most animated “Cars” lover.

Before the service was over the Chaplains and their wives joined us and prayed over us.  I love moments like this.  (Carson did remove his had just seconds after this.)

"Yes, they're all mine." The answer to the question I hear most often.
